Stress is a very real part of all of our lives and when left untamed it can create havoc – affecting the way we feel physically, mentally and emotionally. If we don’t learn to manage our stress it can become chronic, slowly wearing away at us until we feel unable to cope any longer.
The problem most of us have when trying to identify the signs and symptoms of stress is that we don’t make the connection. This is because chronic stress tends to be additive and cumulative, meaning the signs and symptoms have come upon us gradually. Over time we come to accept the feelings as normal, we don’t address them and therefore they increase.
It can take some investigating to get to the source of the problem (often there is more than one source), but once we have identified the problems, solutions become clear.
I work with my clients to help them through the process of identifying causes, signs and symptoms of stress and then developing strategies for effective change. Once the changes have been made they begin to feel the positive changes in their lives and are equipped with the tools to avoid falling victim to the chronic stress cycle in the future.
It is important to realise that the feelings that long term stress create are not ‘normal’ and that it IS possible live a healthier and happier life. It is within YOUR power to achieve this, by simply identifying imbalances and committing to the changes necessary to RESTORE balance.
