Let’s face it – deprivation is no fun for anybody. Going without our favourite treats in order to attain the ideal body (or get anywhere close to it) can make us grumpy, boring and downright frustrated (especially those who feel that life is not worth living without ample opportunity to tickle the taste-buds).
Luckily for you, I love to find ways to feel naughty – while maintaining a healthy weight and body – and I am more than happy to share my findings with you. I’ve done all the research, trolled the supermarkets isles, chewed and spat, scanned labels for hidden nasties and stalked the healthy foodies.
So let the sharing begin.
This share is inspired by my love of bliss-balls and my Dad’s love of Jaffa. The result – Orange Infused Bliss Balls – I seriously can’t get enough of these. Hope you love ‘em too…
Makes about 15
1/2 cup of pecans
½ cup of walnuts
1/2 cup of mixed seeds – pumpkin and sunflower
½ cup of desiccated coconut
1 cup of (soaked) dates
4 (or so) heaped tablespoons of pure cocoa powder
¾ of a medium sized orange – using the grated zest and the juice
(Warning: I am not excellent at measuring ingredients – I play around with measurements and taste as I go along so I suggest you do the same)

Soak the dates for a couple of minutes in warm water, grate the orange zest and squeeze the juice, blend all ingredients and roll into snack sized balls. It couldn’t’ be easier and the best thing about them is that they are ready to eat straight away.
The higher quality of ingredients you use the higher the level of health and enjoyment. So go organic where you can and try to use dates that don’t have added sugar – they are sweet enough on their own : )
